"The Northern Flinders Ranges exercise a subtle attraction to

return upon any sensitive person who once visits the region."

Day one:

7.30 am. Pickup from your accommodation in Adelaide, travel in a modern, air-conditioned Four Wheel Drive Station Wagon to the Flinders Ranges 400Kms north, stopping near Port Pirie for comfort stop & morning tea.

Continuing on we enter the Flinders Ranges via the Pichi Richi Pass a famous location on the “Old Ghan Railway”.

Visit Warren Gorge where we may be lucky enough to see the rare Yellow Footed Rock Wallaby.  Follow the River Red Gum lined Willochra Creek to Proby’s Grave (an early settler drowned in a flash flood) before crossing the Willochra Plain where we see the remains of settlers dreams.  Call into Old Kanyaka Ruins once home to 70 people abandoned due to the Great Drought of 1864-67.  Lunch at Hawker.

After lunch we journey through the beautiful Moralana Scenic Drive and on to Pugilist Hill lookout for a view of the Chace Range & Wilpena Pound before booking into our accommodation at the Wilpena Pound Resort or Rawnsley Park Station subject to availability of accommodation.

Day two:

8.30 am. After breakfast enjoy an unforgettable 30-minute Scenic Flight around this spectacular geological formation called Wilpena Pound.

After the flight we continue our Journey to Arkaroola as we travel through the heart of the Flinders Ranges National Park via Bunyeroo Valley & Gorge, spectacular Brachina Gorge, picturesque Parachilna Gorge & on to the historic copper mining town of Blinman for lunch.

With abundance of wildlife in the area there is a good chance you could see Kangaroos, Euros (Wallaroos) Emus, Parrots and the graceful Wedge Tailed Eagle.

Follow the “Dreaming Trail” as we carry on to Arkaroola via the eastern side of the Flinders Ranges across remote sheep station properties before we stop for a 4WD trek into Mt Chambers Gorge, where you can view the gallery of ancient Aboriginal Rock Engravings.

Continue on into the Gammon Ranges National Park and the Arkaroola Wilderness Sanctuary Resort.
