4 day   “Outback experience tour”  October 2001

Hi Graeme.

South Australian Visitor & Travel Centre.

Below is an e-mail we received from our web site.

Scott recently booked these clients on a 4 day tour with you.

Thought you may be interested in their comments.

We just returned to Canada from Australia and I just wanted to say how delighted we are with our experience “down under”.

We have never met so many friendly and accommodating people.

We went to the South Australian Tourist Information Centre in Adelaide and Scott helped us plan our agenda.

He was great!  We chose a 4 day outback tour with Aussie Heritage Tours and Graeme Heritage gave us a tour of a lifetime.

It was the highlight of our trip.  His competence as a driver and his knowledge of the Australian outback is impressive.

He attended to detail and assured that we saw the highlights of the outback but never compromised our safety or comfort.

We will recommend this trip to anyone who intends to go to South Australia.

4 day “Flinders Ranges, Arkaroola Odyssey”.  August, 2004

Dear Graeme.

We want you to know how much we enjoyed your Flinders Odyssey last week.
Thank you for putting in such an unstinting effort to show us around.

Your knowledge is encyclopedic and very much enhanced what we were seeing, in terms of scientific facts,

history and anecdotal yarn it is obvious to us that you know the area extraordinarily thoroughly.

Indeed, your vehicle seemed like a horse given its head - strong, steady and knowing every bend in the track.

(Does that sound like a compliment to your driving skills? Well, it was meant to be!)

Anyway, we couldn't have had a better 4 days. Even the weather was perfect - though one of us would have
reveled in the excitement of a flooded river or creek. Thanks again! We've no hesitation in recommending you to our friends and family.

Cheers.

Editor’s Note: September 30th. 2004 Arkaroola had 43mm of rain in 1.5 hrs.

The Ridgetop vehicles were stranded by a flash flood, the two following testimonials were from our passengers.

Dear Graeme.

Do hope you are keeping well and busy.

Elanne and I have dined out on our memorable trip to North Flinders,

not only but including the rain and your super quick re-action to danger and your knowledge of the area.

You might let us know if you are short of numbers on any trip as there are people here who have expressed interest in going.

Kind regards & keep well.

AHT09 “Flinders Ranges, Arkaroola Odyssey” September 2004.

Dear Graeme.

Our thanks to you for allowing us to enjoy a few fantastic days in the Flinders Ranges.

What a holiday, and never did I dream we could experience such fun, scenery, rain not to forget the flood (rescue photo enclosed) in a few days.

We had our days in Adelaide and enjoyed all the local spots.

However we thought the Glenelg tram ride a little tame compared to the Arkaroola Ridgetop Tour on a rainy afternoon.

Must admit to a few bruises bumps etc. but can’t help think that such an experience can so enrich your life and gather wonderful feelings for others

who experience the same event.  Hopefully all folk on the trip take this line of thought and thank you great guys for your concern quick thoughts and actions.

On thinking back I felt our little group pretty safe especially after the troops arrived.

Thank you for a wonderful holiday, company, scenery, laughs, food, red wines and not to forget the fantastic folk that we met.

Sincerely.

April 2004   AHT007 “Flinders Explorer” 3 day tour.

Dear Graeme

Home at last. It seems a long time since Helen and I were with you in Adelaide.

We spent a week around Sydney both with Helen's sister and visiting the sites.

The views around Sydney Harbour are stupendous, though they don't reach my top five.

You have made it harder to fill those places!

We have returned with many memories, those of the Flinders Ranges will remain with us for ever.

Any visit there would have been enjoyable but your presence added so much more, your knowledge of the flora and fauna of the region,

not to mention its geology, gave us such added value.

We should mention John too, his Arkaba Station tour set such high standards that we were surprised, but delighted,

that your parts were equally fulfilling.

Above all, we felt that we were with a friend and appreciated the flexibility of the tour.

So please accept our thanks for making our first, and hopefully not last, visit to Australia so memorable.

Our impressions of Australia today we also very favourable - the approach of us British with a more open and relaxed manner plus a Swiss tidyness.

If we know of others who will visit South Australia, we will certainly tell them about the virtues of Aussie Heritage Tours and we do hope that we can renew our acquaintance at some time in the future.

In the meantime,

Kind regards

4 Day  Flinders Ranges,  Arkaroola Odyssey”  November 2003

I will be sorting some pics out for you and hope to email them to you over the weekend.

My main reason of emailing you this evening is to thank you for being a most enjoyable host and proficient guide.

We both enjoyed your company (as well as that of Pat & Nyree) and the wide knowledge that was imparted to us

in a friendly and understated manner.

We will not hesitate to commend your tour to others.

We had a great time in “Oz” and found the people and life style as warm as the sunshine.

Despite trying to sell off my return air tickets without success and having to return to the UK you may be assured that we will return.

Many thanks again for being part of a wonderful holiday,

Kind regards,

I am sure you know that you are great at what you do but I thought I would let you know again.  I just had Mrs. “H….r” in.

She said she had an amazing time and you tour was fabulous.

It’s the personal touch that does it. Thank you so much in assisting in my clients satisfaction.

I have informed all staff in the office regarding this and look forward to the opportunity or recommending you soon to more of my clients.

To a job well done.

3 day “Tailored Tour” Wilpena & Arkaroola.   August 2003

Special tour included a flight between Wilpena & Arkaroola.

Dear Graeme...

You are extremely knowledgeable about all aspects of Australian history, life, customs, geology, culture, etc.

We learned a great deal from you so from that standpoint, the trip was informative and educational as well as fun and exciting.

Day two was the highlight of the three day adventure...

The flight gave us a very different perspective of the Flinders that you just can't appreciate from the ground.

It was just the right time also... about 1 hour... time to see everything but not get tired of sitting in the plane.

The early morning weather provided smooth flying and seeing the sunrise from the air was special.

We did get to see Wilpena Pound... not great light but we saw it and that's all that mattered.

The ridge tour is a must do... particularly after seeing it from the air... then seeing it from the ground.  Massive, impressive, exhilarating, and the guide, like you, was extremely knowledgeable, informative and fun to be with.

The afternoon hike with you up the gorge was also a highlight... it was a nice pace, quiet, beautiful and a very personal way to "experience" the natural beauty.  We commented that we enjoyed that day as much as any single day on the trip.

The Arkaroola compound was also fun... a bit more rustic than Wilpena but the accommodations were clean and fresh and the overall environment gave you a good feel for the outback.

The Observatory tour at night is also informative and fun.

We had a great 3 days... we learned much from you and appreciated your hospitality and thoroughness.

We'd be happy to offer references for you... just let us know.... some good photos to follow in a few days...

4 Day  Flinders Ranges,  Arkaroola Odyssey”  April 2003

Dear Graeme,

Sorry it's taken so long to write and thank you for all you did to make our tour such a fascinating adventure.

You are one of the most knowledgeable guides I have ever worked with.

It’s obvious that you have spent a lot of time in your territory and that you love it very much.

We loved the variety that your tour provided and the pacing was also very appropriate for us.

You also make your clients feel very safe and secure in your hands.

I would recommend to others that they travel with you.

You provide a very unique kind of experience in a wonderful part of the world and do it very, very well.

I will be sending photos but not until sometime in June.

Thanks again for everything.

Best wishes,
Gail.

4 Day
Flinders Ranges,  Arkaroola Odyssey”  April 2003

Graeme,

We very much enjoyed our trip to the
Flinders Ranges with you.

It is very obvious that you are extremely knowledgeable about the area with so many facts and history at your fingertips.

Because we always have lots of questions, it is nice to travel with a guide with an abundance of knowledge.

I felt like you hit the balance pretty well.  The flight at Wilpena was a great idea to give us the real feel for what Wilpena Pound was all about.

Without, that viewpoint it was really impossible to see the topography of the area.  Your travels through the gorges and over the ridge tops

let us see much of the beauty of the area.  The ridge top tour at Arkaroola carried that theme though nicely.

Your follow on Arkaroola tour let us see things in more leisurely detail.

One of our favorite things always is to see the native animals in their normal habitat.  Your tour allowed us that pleasure with many sightings.

We enjoyed seeing the small towns in the area because they tend to show the history of that part of the country.

Something that we would not normally see.

As too the negatives.  I think that we were mentally unprepared for all of the flies in the outback.

I would suggest that you prepare your guests for that as you are heading into the area.

(Ed. The drought of 2003 wiped out large numbers of Dung Beetles throughout the center, fly numbers increased as a result).

Furnishing the nets for those of us who couldn't get past the flies issue easily made the situation much more tolerable and

allowed us to look at the scenery and walk around without much discomfort.

We enjoyed the trip with you very much and would definitely recommend it to anyone with an interest in that part of the country.

Good luck and best regards,

Bill & Shirley.

4 Day  Flinders Ranges,  Arkaroola Odyssey”  April 2002

Graeme

Just to let you know that we arrived back in dark wet London last week.

We had a wonderful time in Australia, and we especially enjoyed the 4 day tour to Wilpena Pound and Arkaroola.

That's a trip we will always remember.

You gave us such a lot of information on the whole of the Flinders Ranges and Arkaroola, which no other tour would have supplied I am sure.  We went on to Sydney after Adelaide and had a busy but great time there.

Thanks again and I hope your exciting and interesting tours continue.  We will pass the info to anyone interested in such a tour.

Best wishes.

4 Day  Flinders Ranges,  Arkaroola Odyssey”  May 2002

Hi Graeme.

Just a brief note to say what a wonderful time I had last week on the Arkaroola tour.

Your superior driving skills and your all encompassing knowledge of the land stand by themselves and make for an exciting and informative trip.

Having paid for all beforehand is a great idea – no decisions to make along the way, just the fabulous landscape to enjoy and marvel at.

Chambers Gorge was amazing and going back to the Aroona ruins & Brachina Gorge were highlights for me personally, along with the

opportunity to see first hand the ruggedness and beauty of the Northern Flinders Ranges.

Thanks once again, it was just the tonic for a work-weary soul to get away and see some space.

Regards,

Denise.  Adelaide.

Dear Graeme.

We thoroughly enjoyed our whole trip to Australia and we have so many wonderful memories.

They are all coming back to me in great detail as I am now putting our photo album together.

It is going to take a lot of pages, but will be a wonderful reminder of all the things we saw & did.

Our trip to the Flinders Ranges was a good part of our holiday and we would like to thank you again

for taking us out to this remote part of South Australia.

Dear Graeme.

We have enjoyed our holiday very much, we are so happy that we were able to change the date of our trip.

I cannot imagine the trip would be the same without Dave Burge, he is a very special person, he looked after us extremely well, informed us and entertained us the whole time.

We felt safe with him.

Thanks to Dave we met a lot of interesting people, he made our trip very exciting and helped us "to understand" the outback and the beauty of people living there.

Thank you.
