Heavy duty shock absorbers fitted.  To smooth out the rough roads.

On Board Safety Equipment:

Two spare tyres, it is advisable to carry two spare tyres north of Hawker.

Battery operated air compressor.

Ultra High Frequency radio transmitter / receiver.

South Australia has a UHF radio regional repeater network.

 UHF radios are used by most pastoralists (graziers)  Service Stations,

Resorts and 4WD enthusiasts through outback South Australia.

20 litres of emergency fuel.

20 litres of emergency drinking water.

CDMA country network mobile phone.

E.P.I.R.B. Emergency Position Indicating Rescue Beacon.

When activated sends a radio signal via satellite to National Search & Rescue Canberra.

Two car jacks, one standard jack, one hi-lift jack.

Two first aid kits.

Fire extinguisher.

Luggage Restrictions:

Due to limited luggage space, restrictions are necessary.

 1 x Suitcase, maximum dimensions 60cm x 40cm x 20 cm (24”x 16”x 8”)

1 x soft bag, airline cabin luggage standard.

Video / camera bag.

What To Bring:

Please bring a wide brimmed hat, nothing too fancy

 but something to cover the ears & face.

As tolerance levels vary, your personal choice of Sun screen,

insect / mosquito repellant, fly net.

Comfortable shoes, runners / joggers are fine, our tours

do not have lot of walking involved.

Dress code at the resorts we visit is neat casual, (golf club standard)

September – April, Wilpena Resort & Arkaroola Resort

have swimming pools, if you fancy a dip bring along your bathers.

South Australian Passenger Transport Board.

Registered Chauffeured Vehicles in South Australia come under the

Control of the South Australian Passenger Transport Board (PTB).

Vehicles with regular state license plates are not permitted

(or insured) to carry passengers for fare or reward.

Passenger Transport Board Controls:

Tour Operator accreditation:

Tour Operators must provide proof of current business insurances to the requirement of the regulations.

Chauffeured Vehicle Drivers (Tour vehicle) must hold a current license from the PTB. The license is valid for 5 years.

To acquire a license a person must have submitted to:

1.     A national Police check to ensure the applicant has no convictions (within Australia) for any criminal offence in the previous 7 years. 

2.     A medical examination to ensure they do not suffer from any medical condition that could impair their ability to control the vehicle.

To safeguard the interests of the fare paying public only persons of good character

 & health are permitted to drive registered Chauffeured Vehicles.

The Vehicle:  

Annual Inspection:  All chauffeured vehicles of this type i.e. SV (special purpose vehicle) are required under the P.T.B. regulations to undergo an annual inspection to ensure:

1.               The vehicles are in safe / sound mechanical condition.

2.               Vehicles are clean.

3.               Vehicles comply to an acceptable standard.

General conditions:

1.         Smoking is not permitted in vehicles.

2.         Food is not permitted to be eaten in vehicles.

      3.         Animals are not permitted to be carried in vehicles.

It is advisable to check with tour operators to ensure they are accredited operators.

 Larger tour operators use sub-contract drivers to conduct tours.

 It is an offense under the P.T.B. regulations if an accredited driver fails

to produce his / her license when requested by a fare paying member of the public.

S.A. National Parks & Wildlife licensed Commercial Tour Operator.

It is a requirement of the South Australian National Parks & Wildlife Service

that all commercial tour operators, operating within the National Parks of South Australia

 must hold a current license to operate issued by the

South Australian Department for Environment & Heritage.
